A Bit About Us
Our Past
After several years of working in the
finance industry Ron Bishop who is the owner and General Manager of
Debtor Communications spent 3 years as the Timaru Branch Manager for
Creditcorp Services.
In 1993 the Creditcorp branches were closed down following a merger
with Baycorp.
Ron saw a need in the market to provide a more
localized collection service for businesses in the Central South
lsland so he and his wife Margaret formed Debtor Communications.
The business grew rapidly and in 1995 they purchased there own ground
floor office building in Timaru
In 1997 they appointed their first area Agent in Dunedin and they
continued to appoint area Agents in Nelson, Greymouth, Blenheim,
Christchurch, Invercargill and Queenstown.
Having area Agents introduce new clients and make visits on the more
difficult Debtors worked very well for a period of time.
While the Agency network worked well for a while and
many new clients were introduced to us the area Agents soon lost
interest in the reservicing of the clients and many clients lost touch
with us.
The Present
It was time to take a look at the future of Debt Collection in New
Zealand and see what role we wanted to play in it's future.
Here is what we found.
-
With the introduction of other methods of paying
accounts the debt collection market is getting smaller.
-
The administration of many of the corporate
companies are now based in the North Island which only leaves the
smaller towns with the small businesses who have debts.
- It is hard to find Agents who will go knocking on doors looking
for debt collection business when the market is not as fruit full as
it has been in the past.
The Future
If we are to survive and still provide a
service to our loyal clients then we are going to have to change.
This website is our change.
We believe we can provide an even better service to our clients from
right here in the Central South Island.
Technology has enabled us to now offer our services
not only Nationwide but Internationally as well.
If you have a question for us then by all means ask it right here on
line.
